I hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving! I know I did!

While driving to Southern California last week, I stopped quite a few times to photograph (surprise!) and began posting to Instagram with the hashtag "roadtrip". I had fun documenting and sharing my little adventure. What follows are a few of the iPhone shots from the trip. I also used my "big girl camera", but haven't had time to look through those images yet.

I also have a special announcement at the end of this post, so be sure to keep reading!

I decided to break up the drive going down there by stopping for the night at Avila Beach. It was 72 degrees when I arrived. The beach, as I have shared before, is one of my "happy places"... which you can sort of tell by this rare (for me) "selfie" I took.

The sun began to set shortly after I arrived.

I woke up early and ventured out before coffee(!) to capture the magic light of the morning.

On my way down Highway 101 later that day, I took a few detours in the Los Olivos wine country, near Santa Barbara.

I arrived at my brother's house Wednesday evening, where the preparations for the Thanksgiving meal were well underway.

One of my favorite places to photograph whenever I visit my brother is Descanso Gardens.

Eager to get home on Saturday, I took the faster, but less interesting, Highway 99 north. This was taken at a rest stop in Turlock.

It was really nice to get away, but I was also happy to come home.

Spending hours behind the wheel gives you plenty of time to think, which can be good or bad, depending on the day. Thoughts about my work and the direction I am heading, filled up a lot of that time...which brings me to the "special announcement" I promised.

As most of you know, I am not hand coloring my prints all that much these days. The work I am doing in encaustics is more than satisfying that need to create original art from my photographs. So much so that I am feeling the urge to make room (physically and mentally) in order to fully pursue my latest obsession.

To help do that, I have decided to offer some very deep discounts on the few remaining original hand colored photographs I have on my website. This includes a couple of original silver gelatin prints hand colored with Marshall oils, along with more recent pigment prints that I hand colored with pastels.

My email list will not find out about this offer for a few more days, so if you are interested, you should check out my website and see what is still available. Unless I am commissioned to do so, these images will probably never be available as an original hand colored piece again. I am also pretty sure my darkroom days are over, so the silver gelatin prints will not be replaced at all.

Be sure to let me know if you have any questions!

Think of this as my version of "Cyber Monday"..............
