Good Morning.............

Thank you to everyone that helped me choose my "pic of the week" last week. Image #2 of the umbrella, was the winner. Click here if you missed that post: At The Beach

This week's pick was easy because I hardly took any photos at all. This one that I did take however, feels special because it reminded me how important it is to stay present and how photography helps me do that.

Like I mentioned, my schedule has been crazy (which is the main reason so few images were made last week......). But one morning, while getting ready to begin my day, I glanced over and saw the morning light coming through the window and was immediately drawn to stop everything I was doing, grab my phone and try to capture what I was feeling.

The best part of all of this, was during that day I kept thinking about how grateful I was to have a passion for something that helps me stop and notice special moments when they happen. The "feeling" I tried to capture, stayed with me for a few days and really helped when my schedule threatened to throw me off balance.

With that said, I am taking a "digital sabbatical" and will not be on Facebook, Instagram or post to this blog until the first week in October. I am sure I will have stories to share......................

In the meantime, no matter where you are, enjoy the changing of the seasons, stay present and celebrate with joy and gratitude!

At the Beach............

On our way home from San Francisco this weekend, we stopped at our favorite beach at the Marin Headlands. We were in no hurry to get back to Sacramento where 100 degree temps were waiting for us.

I am not usually one to simply sit on the beach, but with a surfing competition (for kids) taking place, we decided to relax and watch for a bit. The weather was absolutely perfect and I believe I may have set a personal record for "sitting".

I should back up a little..............during the days leading up to the weekend away, all I could think about was the work I had to do. I have deadlines and events all coming up at the same time and seriously, the timing could not have been worse. But these plans had been made months ago...................

So here I was, totally "chilling" on the beach and feeling fairly confident that I would get done what I needed to, and the rest would simply have to wait. How did that happen?

I think ocean air needs to be bottled up or something. Everything changes for me when I am at the beach. Little things don't matter anymore, worries are lifted and taken out to sea, and all is right with my world!

Did I mention we saw dolphins too ?! Pure magic..................

I thought I would share a few of my images from that day. These were all taken with my iPhone using "Hipstamatic", and most of the processing was done in "Snapseed".

Sitting on the Dock...........

I did something the other day that I have not done in a couple of years.............I took my "converted to infrared" Nikon D80 out for a drive. Actually I took it with me to the lake where we went kayaking. I did not take it on the boat, but instead shot a few frames before and after paddling.

I am not sure why it's been so long since I shot IR. Sometimes I think it's because the quality of that camera is not as high as I would like it to be. Lately however, I have been feeling the need to  shake things up a bit, and this felt like the right thing to do. I not only had a good time shooting, but the processing was also a lot of fun!

So here it is, my Project 52 "pic of the week":
