Thinking While Driving.............

Photographers and meteorologists alike, get a little giddy when the boring blue skies of summer begin to change and offer a little more inspiration, and (for meteorologists) something more to talk about it.

I can't resist pulling over to photograph the light, texture and color of clouds in the sky. Throw in an awesome tree and I may begin to giggle with delight.

This is what happened to me the other day......................

I had an appointment about 45 miles to the east and in the foothills earlier this week, and decided to take the back roads home.

I like driving by myself and feel I do some of the my best thinking while behind the wheel.

There is a lot of talk out there right now (naturally) about planning for the new year. I can't really do that until I have processed and reflected on how events transpired this year.

So I am in my reflective phase right now and thought a nice drive with my iPod playing my favorite music, was just what I needed.

I feel some big changes coming on for next year, but I will save that for a later post.

The ideas for these changes come up by thinking about what did, and did not work during the past year. For example, realizing that it's been 7 months since my last workshop made it clear that I miss teaching. That will probably mean more (and different) classes in 2013.

I am going to continue to sort out this past year and will share insights as they happen. It can be painful sometimes to look back, and I know this year had it's share of mistakes and missteps, but that is how we grow. I won't dwell. I will just nod my head in recognition, quickly file it away and commit to doing better next time.

I will also acknowledge the good things that happened too. My project 365, kayaking, baseball and the clearing out of unwanted clutter from my house, were all positive events and provided me with some of my best days this year.

In some ways I feel 2012 was a transitional year, which makes me even more excited to see what 2013 will bring.

To be continued....................................

  1. I wish you the best in 2013. This has probably been a growth time, so 2013 is your year!

Love the photo! The drama is all there!

  2. Thank you so much Elizabeth! All the best to you too!
