When I went flower shopping for the workshop, there was an abundance of tulips to choose from, including parrot tulips. I love those flowers and don't see them very often!
The day before the class I made sure everything was working by setting up my own shots, trying hard not to damage any of the flowers. I really didn't expect any blooms to survive the class, but when I was cleaning up I was delighted to find quite a few tulips still in good form. I stayed in my studio and photographed until there was virtually no light left coming through my studio windows.

Today is also "Texture Tuesday". This week's challenge was to use Kim Klassen's "Felicity" texture. In this image I used "Felicity" with a soft light blending mode at 100%. I also used her "Luminous" texture at 62%, again using the soft light blending mode.
The following two images, taken the day before the class, are of some of the other tulips I had on hand. I used "Felicity" on them as well.

ReplyDeleteOh my, what absolutely gorgeous tulips. I've browsed your blog, and all your images have this sense of timeless beauty... almost like a beautiful memory. Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving such a nice comment. You are fortunate to be so close to SF -- California is such an inspiring place!
ReplyDeleteA big sigh for parrot tulips. The photographs + texture = exquisite.
ReplyDeleteSO beautiful Dianne.
ReplyDeleteI will look forward to more about these, beautiful. Do you use a light tent or just natural light?
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful - I am in love with tulips right now, but haven't got quite the right shot yet...
ReplyDeleteThank you so much everyone! I sure had a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteThere will be more info later, but I did use natural window light for these images.
I used to have a Tulip Tuesday at work, where I'd go down to the market and buy myself a tulip.

ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me Dianne to continue with my own exploration of tulips in watercolor. They're tricky, especially if you've got the heat going in the studio!
ReplyDeleteYour shots are gorgeous!
Thank you everyone! I am not surprised that many share my love of tulips.
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous, I wish I could participate to your workshop.
